The use of radio modules and the integration of radio (RF) circuits within our electronic products requires special care, as it is a new technology, and therefore, its functionality can be degraded when it is integrated into our conventional electronic products. During the process of the new product’s development some topics such as the installation of antennas, filters, amplifiers and receivers within our design board could be easily ignored, with the consequences on the radio functionality of our PCB design.
Critical parameters such as sensitivity, transmitted power and out-of-band emissions
can cause our product to be out of regulations and the certification laboratory does not credit our product. The new RED Directive of April 16, 2014, concerning the harmonization of the laws of the Member States on selling radio equipment is of special relevance for all those products that are circumscribed within the scope of the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) and radio equipment.
